Steve Wright Memorial

Good afternoon all,

On the afternoon of Wednesday 17th Feb there will be a memorial for steve and his plaque will be enveiled at the Centre for Sport on Frenchay. There will be a buffet and some speeches etc.

There will be an oppertunity for people attending the memorial to get on the wall and have a go and so the wall may be busy in the afternoon, just to give you a heads up.

The wall will be open as per usual.

Free UCR climbing, nakedness (for charity) and various other things!!

Ok guys,

Read on if your interested in any of the following happening in the next few weeks:
-Free UCR climbing
-Free UWE climbing (new routes up)

How would you like to climb at UCR (Undercover Rock) for free?

If your interested read on...

Because we love you all so much we've arranged for club members to climb for free at UCR (How to get there), this is only at certain times and if you meet certain criteria, which hopefully most of you will!!

- Free climbing will be on a Wednesday from the 27th January, you will need to sign in before 4pm (but can stay after then if your already in).

- You need to be a fully paid up member of the club with a sticker on the back of your SU card

- You will need to produce this when you sign in down there, if you forget it you will have to pay.

- If you are not a member of the climbing centre you will need to join which for lifetime membership fo the centre is only £1!!!! For this you will get a membership card which you should bring along each time you come alongside your SU card. The centre will get you to fill out a membership form stating your aware of the risks and know what you are doing. Dont lie here its to protect you guys, if you dont know, come along to a social (The Green House, Park Street mondays from 8pm) on a monday and have a chat and we will sort something out for you. They may ask you test you on one or two things to make sure youll be OK.

- We can't guarantee that there will be club kit there for people to use, we will try but can't promise anything. If you need to hire kit there, this will need to be paid for. If you haven't got your own kit and want to buy some come along to Taunton Leisure on the 11th February between 5pm and 7pm and you can get 20% off climbing kit.

- This will run while funds last, we will let you know when they run out for the year.

- If you are new and havent come along much pop down to a social first and speak to one of the committee.

The Uwe wall is available again this term same deal as last time - mondays 5.30-7.30 and wednesday 1-5.
We spent two afternoons in there resetting most of the routes
-18 new routes (grades 4 - 6c+)
-3 old routes still up
-3 traverses

Charity photo shoot
On Thursday (28th Jan) we will be doing a naked (or almost naked) photoshoot, this is something most clubs get involved and do photos each year, the SU organises this for charity. I beleive this year its for a t-towel but not sure for definate!! If your interested speak to one of the guys or girls who did it last year about what happens and let alex or andy know if your interested for more details...
