SkydiveUWE jumps at a number of dropzones around the country. These include; Dunkeswell in North Devon, Weston on the Green near Oxford, Netheravon near Salisbury and South Cerney which is close to Cirencester. Weston, Netheravon and South Cerney are military run dz's that allow civilians to jump there at weekends.
This year our training courses will take place at Dunkeswell. It is a large dropzone that boasts some excellent facilities as well as a fun atmosphere. All our new members will be training here and when we go away for a weekend together this is a great chance to get to know each other have a great laugh and a fun time (not to mention going parachuting as well of course!) All dropzones offer kit hire facilities free camping, and plenty of instructors for coaching as well as packers.
All dropzones we visit are
BPA regulated and follow strict saftey guidelines whenever people are jumping. They also all have very experienced coaches and instructors who can help in every stage, whether you're making your first jump or are learning a new skill in the air. As an organisation we can negotiate with dropzones to ensure you get the best possible deals for jump prices. The normal maximum altitude of a skydive is between 10,000 and 15,000ft (Of course more altitude means more freefall!) and jumps cost licensed jumpers around £18 (but Only £10 to 15,000ft for experienced jumpers at Dunkeswell when you show your NUS card!). Dropzones also vary in the planes they have, some have small Cessna 206 (which can only carry 5 people) where as other DZ's have large Twin Turbo-prop aircrafts which can carry a lot more people and climb a lot faster - Checkout our
Aircraft Page for more details of what planes are based where. All our Dropzones have large, clean and dry areas for packing our parachutes which is always important for those with their own kit.
